Love, mortality, searching, reflection - these themes are woven into three quartets from the 20th century that look inward. In this three-part seminar led by cellist Eric Alterman, we will explore Intimate Voices by Jean Sibelius, Intimate Letters by Leos Janacek, and the Third String Quartet of Benjamin Britten. Through our group listening, we will become acquainted with these great pieces, and seek to understand how these composers draw the listener into their personal struggles and searching.
