Meet Your Hosts

Steve and Vera Kilston own a magnificent property in the Southern Willamette Valley! The property and surrounding acreage will host the Delgani String Quartet Academy.

Steve and Vera have been aerospace engineers (including being responsible for the satellites taking the pictures of Earth’s surface you can see on Google), teachers and coaches (of math, physics, gymnastics, chess, piano, and violin), parents (5 children), and grandparents of 7. Steve has a Ph.D. in Astronomy, discovered a comet, proved that we are made of atoms created in stars, and designed a plausible interstellar spaceship. Vera designed their home and produced the gardens and mosaics decorating it.

The Kilston estate boasts five private suites and a large dormitory space. Each student will have their own bed and, in some cases, their own room depending on the ratio of male to female students admitted to the Academy.

How to Apply

Step 1

Create an audition video and upload it to YouTube, Facebook, or another online platform — you will submit a link to this video on the application page. The video should highlight your strengths as a musician and should include contrasting sections or movements. If applying as a pre-formed quartet, please have each member of the quartet submit the same group audition video.

Step 2

Visit the Application Page to submit your contact information and video link. If you submit the application by the deadlines above, you will be eligible for a reduced rate.

Step 3

Wait up to one week. We will contact you with the results of your audition. Keep in mind, we can only accept 16 students and need the proper instrumentation to form string quartets. We will also maintain a waiting list.

Step 4

Once accepted, please submit a completed Registration Form with your deposit.
