DELGANI I — Musical Memoirs

Our second season begins with the emotionally powerful and autobiographical eighth string quartet by Dmitri Shostakovich. Following this work will be Anton Webern’s nature-inspired Langsamer Satz and Felix Mendelssohn’s final string quartet in F minor written in memory of his sister.

DELGANI II — Art of the Fugue

Our most traditional concert of the season begins with Bach and traces the development of fugue through Haydn’s quartet in F minor from op. 20, Ives’ quartet no. 1, and Beethoven’s quartet in C major, op. 59, no. 3.

DELGANI III — From My Life

Continuing our tradition of collaborating with composers, this concert will feature new works by the winners of our call-for-scores. The composers selected for this performance will be invited to introduce their works to the audience either in person or by video. The concert concludes with Smetana’s celebrated “From My Life” quartet.

DELGANI IV — Evolving Elements

University of Oregon percussion faculty Pius Cheung and his equally talented wife, Eriko Daimo, join us in works for percussion and string quartet. Following intermission, Delgani will end the season with Ravel’s beloved string quartet.
